6/18/14 Smith sat 77-79 out of a high 3/4 arm slot and showed command of a 69 mph slider during three innings of work. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound righty showed repeatable mechanics and projects to add significant velocity with an athletic, long frame. Smith also flashed a 60 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation, but will need to work on improving his arm speed to make the pitch more effective.
