9/25/16 5-foot-11, 180-pounder who works slightly crossfire out of a high three-quarter slot. Long, clean arm action generates an easy fastball at 84-88. Will work around front side at times (more so out of the stretch), inhibiting ability to get the ball down in the zone and get on top of his curveball at 66-68. Showed some feel for a change-up at 74-76 with occasional hard diving action.
8/19/16 Pirozzi turned plenty of heads on day one when he came out sitting 85-87 from a controlled, fluid high 3/4 arm slot. Early on Pirozzi also commanded an 11/5 breaking curveball at 71 mph with tight rotation. Command became an issue in his third and final inning of work, but the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder did more than enough in his first two innings to pique the interest of the scouts in attendance.
