11/7/15 5-foot-11, 195-pound right-handed hitter. Hit from a square stance with very short, heel-raise stride and kept head still throughout. Minimal load with hands essentially starting from a standstill, but he flashes batspeed (90-mph exit velocity) and he hits through contact well. Ran a 7.12 60-yard dash. Defensively, he showcased solid feet and hands, gained ground well toward his target, and posted 83-mph arm strength across the diamond.
8/1/15 Varriano ran a 7.19 60-yard dash and flashed an 82 mph arm from the outfield at the PBR Future Games. The 5-foo-11, 195-pound 3B/OF participated as an outfielder as a member of Team Pennsylvania and showcased a 94 mph bat exit velocity from the right side of the plate. While Varriano went hitless in game action, he displayed his loose, handsy swing in batting practice with significant barrel whip that projects for continued offensive success.
6/17/15 5-foot-11, 195-pound right-handed hitter. Hit from slightly closed stance with short stride and high back elbow. Balanced swing with good bat speed, hands work and head stays very still. Posted an in-game 4.47 home-to-1B time. Showcased 90-mph exit velocity and 82-mph arm strength during workout. Moved well defensively, showing a soft glovehand and good range to the line.
7/8/14 Varriano ran a 7.66 60-yard dash and showed capable defensive actions at 3B with a 76 mph arm across the diamond. The right-handed hitter has advanced abilities for a prospect his age with looseness to his hands. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound sophomore showcased a bat exit velocity of 87 mph and the ability to barrel the baseball routinely with gap power to both sides of the field.
