6-foot-3, 185-pound athletic, projectable frame. On the mound he shows some rhythm in his delivery. Uses a straight up and down leg kick before his stride to the plate. Lands on line at foot strike and falls toward the first base side of the mound. Throws from a high ¾ slot with the fastball sitting 71-74 mph. Curveball sits 54-57 mph with gradual break on a 12/6 plane. Changeup sat 64-68 mph. A strong kid that creates efficient energy into contact through a leg kick load and aggressive stride. Average batspeed at this stage and gets most of his pop through his strength. Solid whip with the barrel through the zone on a level path. Registered an exit velocity of 89 mph and ran a 4.94 from home to first. A very solid defensive first baseman. Does a nice job with his footwork to create efficient throwing angles on his double play balls. Through across the diamond with 70 mph arm strength.

Has a very athletic, projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. On the mound the right-hander used a high, controlled leg lift to generate good momentum and direction to home plate. Has long, loose arm action through a high-3/4 slot that had his fastball sitting 74-76 mph with way more left in the tank. His best off-speed pitch was his 11/5 curveball that had good depth and a sharp break at 62-64 mph. Mixed in a 68-71 mph changeup. Ran a 7.81 60-yard dash. Used very fluid mechanics with good rhythm to consistently find the barrel in batting practice. Starts open and gets back to even with a short stride. Hands move backwards during his stride and flash through the zone at a downward path. Showed some pull-side pop. Exit velocity was an impressive 86 mph. In the outfield he displayed athletic footwork with the ability to get good use out of his crow hop during his throws. With long, loose arm action he showed off 73 mph arm strength to home plate.

3/14/15: Maynard has a chance to be very solid on the mound.  His fastball has late sink and thrown for strikes at 70-72mph.  Justin’s curveball has 11/5 shape with sweep action.  His change-up has sink as well.  He’ll need to maintain FB arm speed to sell the change-up as he matures.  Justin stays level with good direction.  At the plate, he has good balance and a small hand load.  Load has a slight arm bar.  His bat speed was above average with an uphill swing.  He produced a 79mph exit velocity.  Defensively, he rolls out his hands as he approaches ball.  The exchange was quick but feet were slow.  Throws were accurate with carry.  Justin ran a 8.2 60yd dash.
