Eastern NY Prospect Preview (August 2, 2016) Schoff stands 6-foot-4, 200-pounds with a pitcher's build, wide shoulders, and a frame to dream on. On the mound he uses a slower-paced delivery, hands over his head on the side-step for timing, strong hip-turn leading slightly with his heal. Drives hard off his back leg with some deep-driving action, falls off towards first-base, arm-action is back and clean, throws from a high-3/4 slot with no restrictions. Fastball sat 85, topping 87 mph with some depth and late jump. Curveball has traditional 12/6 shape, velocity ranging 66-69 with feel for spin. Moving forward, a tighter more hand-speed breaking-ball would be beneficial as he develops. Showed a change-up at 77-79 mph in the zone, one-plane. Schoff is a very interesting pitching-prospect that that has all the early tools to be power-arm at the next-level. Only a week after the showcase he committed to Bryant.
