April 2018
Impressive velocity out the gate in April, 88-89 MPH fastball, upper 60's breaking ball with late depth. Did give up some solid contact. The arm is quick and clean, fastball worked on one plane. Aggressive approach, strong hard working athlete.
Procase (June 26, 2017)
November 6, 2016

Kosowsky, a 2018 right-handed hitting third baseman and RHP, currently ranked as the top dual position player for the 2018 class, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 175 pounds and ran a personal best 7.30 60. Offensively- Starts with an open lower half weight evenly distributed with the hands in front of the back shoulder and barrel of the bat perpendicular to the ground. Gets to the launch phase of the swing with a pronounced leg lift, lead knee getting thigh high while the hands are moved with a buggy whip motion and barrel of the bat gets a 45-degree angle towards the pitcher. Drives the ball predominantly to the pull side with a max effort swing getting quality rotation from the back side which helped produce a personal best 95 MPH exit velocity.

Preseason All-State (Feb. 28, 2016)

Kosowsky has steadily been gaining size and power over the last 12-months standing 5-foot-10, 170-pounds with a powerful lower-half. Offensively- Setup is open, high knee-lift on the pitch for timing, hands drop during the load. Short, compact path to the zone with reasonable bat-speed, barrel stays level through contact with a one-arm finish. Over rotates some on his front side. Projectable pull-side power. Defensively - smooth actions, active lower half, quick transfer to a high-3/4 release. Current arm shows above average projection at 84 mph, likely a corner move at the next-level. Pitching - Kosowsky currently shows the most upside from the mound. He uses a solid base with a balanced delivery, rotates his hips over the rubber driving first with his back side producing power from the ground up. Clean, longer action to his arm, shoulder and hip direction stay on the power line through release. High-3/4 slot fastball with some arm-side tail topping 85 mph. Slows his delivery down some on his changeup at 65-67, curveball peaked 70 showing some loose-spin out of the hand. With a more aggressive approach to his off-speed, allowing his hand speed to help him, look for Kosowsky to climb the prospect ladder.

Last Chance Showcase (November 29, 2015)
Our third look at Joseph since mid summer. He's added an inch and 10 pounds, now 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds. He ran a 4.78 Home to 1B and had an impressive exit velocity of 88 MPH (up 8 from prior events). Offensively- At the plate is set up is slightly open, gets back to even on the pitch, hips slide forward on the stride, hands power inside the ball with above-average bat speed, short path, barrel stays in the hitting zone on a level plane, short extension on the finish.

Eastern NY All-Star Game (September 13, 2015)
Stands at 5-foot-9, 145 pounds, with an athletic body build.  Defensively –  He has a smooth approach through the ball, with smooth, soft, quick hands, throws with an athletic 3/4 arm action, arm is very strong across the diamond, plays through the ball nicely, and has accuracy on the target.  Pitching - On the mound, he uses a simple side step, balanced delivery, arm action is fairly clean and loose, throws with an over the top arm slot. He exhibits good command with a fastball max at 80 MPH (up 1 MPH from July).  Offensively - At the plate his setup is open stance where he is relaxed and balanced, long timing leg kick stride, with a back load.  Short, quick path to the ball, swinging with some uphill tilt, with a mid-section to shoulder high finish through the ball.  With his exit velo, he should put up consistent numbers.

Capital Region Open (July 29, 2015)

Kosowsky stands 5-foot-9, 145-pounds with a smaller build. Hitting / MIF - at the plate he uses a slightly open stance, toe lift on the pitch, straight back load that stops before he drives forward. Short path, barrel is flat through the zone, chest high finish. From the infield he uses smooth, clean actions to the ball, stays down with glove out in front, clean transfer to a quick release. High-3/4 slot at 78 mph. Very impressive young defender. Pitching - he uses a side-setup, quick delivery, clean loose arm action, throws from a high-3/4 slot with a fastball topping 79 mph. Curveball has 11/5 early shape. He needs to work on finishing his pitches out in front. Young prospect to follow.
