2/10/19

5-foot-8, 200-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. On the mound, the fastball sat 72-73 mph, arm side run to the fastball. The spin pitch is 60-63 mph, big in shape, needs added fastball hand speed to it. The changeup is 66-70, and thrown with good hand speed. The delivery is online with his feet and above 3/4 in slot. The tracking of the front shoulder needs to improve as he comes offline prior to foot strike. The lift is repeated and solid in tempo. Positionally, threw 73 mph across the diamond from first to third.  The glove and feet around the bag have improves since last year. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 77 mph. The setup is open to start, closes down the front foot as the ball approaches. The bat path is long to contact, needs to be more consistent in direction. Definitely improved since the last time we saw him workout.

3/18/17

5-foot-6, 200-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. The glove is solid at first base, the feet are very active. Slowing down the feet and being under control are important to the position. Threw 71 mph across the diamond at the event. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 79 mph. Sets up with a slightly open stance, closes down as the ball approaches. The hands have good life to them, the swing is flat to contact and through. Showed pop during the batting practice session. On the mound, the fastball touched 66 mph out of a plus ¾ slot. The breaking ball is has good shape to it, sat at 59 mph. The changeup is a work in progress, sits at 60 mph. The direction to the plate can continue to improve, not pulling off the front shoulder will help his stuff improve. Threw a bunch of strikes in the pitching session.
