2017 Spring Scout Blog: The 6'2", 195 pound Indiana commit sat 88-90, touching a 92 early Friday night. Loose, long arm action with arm strength and speed down the mound, releasing at high 3/4 arm slot. Repeatable delivery with inward turn at the top of windup, creating deception and ball to jump late on hitters. Front side tendency to leak open and pull baseball glove side out of zone. Curveball was consistently 73-74 mph and threw a couple early on with good downward bite for strikeouts. Threw for out pitch to chase in the dirt and for strike in 3-2 count. Struggled at times to throw back to back breaking balls, hand getting on the side and around baseball and creating more of a cutter out of the zone with front side flying open. When fingers stayed on top with release out front, created good breaking pitch down in zone. Changeup was firm at 80 mph. Attacked with fastballs and breaking ball mix. Big mound presence and pitched with confidence. Athletic to field position.
4/16/15 GAME NOTES: The 6-foot-2, 190 pound Indiana commit ranked No.2 in Indiana's 2017 class was 87-90 with his fastball most of the night, touching a couple of 91's and a 92 in the first inning. Arm action is long and loose with quick arm speed, pitching from a high 3/4 slot. Inward turn in the delivery with good balance and lands square. Showed a serviceable breaking ball at 73-74 and a 2-seam fastball at 84-85 with some run. Fastball was kept down in the zone. He pitched six innings in last night's 9-1 victory allowing 3 hits, 4 walks while striking out 4. CLICK HERE to view video of Litwicki.
Summer 2014: Athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds with plenty of arm strength both on the mound and across the diamond. Fastball sits mid to upper 80's, touching 89.
9/15/19: Strong bodied red-shirt sophomore Matthew Litwicki featured a riding fastball at 91-93 mph and a sharp 78-79 slider to his gloveside with a compact arm action from a three-quarter slot.
