6/1/15 GAME NOTES: Fastball was 86 – 88 mph in the sectional championship games vs Bellmont. Works off two different curveballs, one is late breaking and tight with a lot of deception, the other is soft and loopy, both  73 – 76 mph. Long narrow frame with long arms and he goes at hitters from a  loose ¾ arm slot and falls off hard towards third base, goes deep in counts. Need to come up with a third pitch.

4/16/15 GAME NOTES: 6 foot 3 inches, 200 pounds. He is tall and athletic with long arms and strong legs. The Left-handed Indiana University commit has the ability to dominate high school hitters.  He is a two pitch guy that struggled to control his fastball (84-86 mph and touches 87); he left it up in the zone largely because he falls off hard to the 3B side.  He commands his late breaking, tight, MLB curveball; this pitch is unhittable in High School. Last night vs FW Canterbury he had 10 Ks and 4 walks in 4 shutout innings.

2/28/15: The 6-foot-3, 185 pound lefty showcased a better front side than he has in the past.  Fastball shows run and heavy action in the zone at 85-87.  Breaking ball is a plus pitch with sharp break at 77-79.  Changeup was 74-76 and thrown for a strike.  Possesses a quick arm and throws from a ¾ slot.  Committed to Indiana.  

8/8/14 Future Games: While the 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-hander didn’t flash the sexiest fastball velocity, checking in at 85-86 mph, Saalfrank was arguably the biggest riser at the Future Games thanks to his hellacious curveball. His 76-78 mph breaking ball is a plus offering – certainly one of, if not the best, secondary pitch of the event. It is a true swing-and-miss pitch, as he showed against Team Illinois on Saturday. In two innings, he struck out two, yielded no hits, and showed off his athleticism fielding four tappers to his left and right for outs. His arm is athletic and loose, and should continue to add velocity in the coming years as he fills into his frame.

2/22/14: 6-foot-3, 185 pound projectable lefty was up to 87 mph with the fastball, sitting 84-86 with good run.  He throws  from a high ¾ slot with an athletic arm action.  Possesses good rhythm throughout the delivery with easy effort.  Showcased good feel for a plus curveball at 74-75 mph with a sharp, late break.  He also mixes in a 75-76 mph slider.  Changeup was 72-76 and still needs developed.  Saalfrank is high follow in the 2016 class.
