2018 Area Code Games - UCLA commit. 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, extra-large frame that has a long, lean, wiry strong proportional body. Number 27 player in Class of 2020 state rankings. The UCLA commit shows a quick-to-fast arm that is compact and hidden in the back through to a ¾ slot. Gains ground down the mound to an inline, balanced landing. Incorporates lower half very well. Fastball shows run to the arm-side from a loose, easy action. Brooks' command of the pitch has steadily improved since spring now being able to work both sides of the plate and elevate for swinging strikes. Slider falls off the table to righties and front foots lefties. Shows hard tilting action. At 80-82 mph and from the same slot/arm speed as the fastball it's a potential plus pitch. Brooks shows feel for a changeup that he threw only a couple times in his outing. Shows some fading action and he used it to bust in on righties.
