4/12/18 - Cal State Fullerton commit. 6-foot, 190-pound sturdy, strong frame. Body projects future growth both in height and mass. Squared shoulders with big feet. Hoopingarner came into the game in a relief role and was effective working his fastball 87-89 mph and touching 90 mph three times. The pitch was effective as he showed the ability to move it in-and-out showing a tick of arm side run. It's a heavy pitch giving the hint of potential future velocity gains. His curveball shows good depth to its 12-6 shape working 69-71 mph. Hoopingarner shows clean arm actions his high ¾ almost over-the-top delivery which generates downhill plane on his pitches. Starting with a slightly hunched back, Hoopingarner uses a drop-and-drive delivery to generate power and velocity from his lower half. He's not afraid to challenge hitters and will pound them inside. Confident pitcher who projects as a reliever type in college until he develops and is committed to a third pitch.
