7/29/19

5-foot-10,170-pounds, medium frame, strong, athletic body and a strong lower half. His fastball sat from 82-85 MPH and topped out at 86. Fastball had some life a little movement and commanded the pitch. His changeup was 73 MPH, good deception from fastball when he threw. His curveball was 67 MPH and was a strong pitch, loose movement with good spin. Could be a strikeout pitch. Dennis looked good on the mound showing feel for the zone. Will be a player to keep an eye on for this year at Notre Dame.

6/01/19

IE Future Games Trials - Uncommitted. Five-foot-10, 170-pounds. The rising sophomore showed good actions behind the plate where blocked well during bullpens and was an average to slightly above receiver. During the workout session he showed - with the exception of one throw that slipped - a strong, accurate arm that popped 1.98-2.13 on the bag. He’s an athletic catcher who also plays third base. Starts from a deep crouch before adjusting his stance according to the pitcher's delivery. He’s showed to be very in-sync with the pitchers he caught. With the bat he shows a slightly open stance and an active load that produces consistent bat speed. Gap-to-gap guy who looks to elevate the ball off the barrel.

10/20/18

Los Angeles Open - Five-foot-9, 170-pounds, large frame with noticeable strength in a thick lower half while his upper half is certain to catch up. The sophomore possesses present strength as displayed during his loud batting practice round as he was pounding balls to all fields on a line. Starts with a slightly open setup and uses a modest leg lift trigger to initiate a powerful swing. Drives his hands through the zone while exploding his lower half into the swing. Maintains the barrel in the hitting zone a long time. Violence of the swing may cause timing issues. Defensively, Dennis shows solid catching mechanics with loose hips and active, quick feet. Arm is short from catch-to-throw with a release point near the ear. Accuracy was inconsistent while the arm was quick and loose. Pop times were in the 2.01-2.19 range.
