One of the top 2023 players to watch for, Frers had a great day all-around at the Fall Open. Lots of room to grow into his 6'1 frame, Frers displayed a simple, strong swing, creating good separation producing an 88mph exit Velo and backspin line drives. On the field, Frers showed the best arm on the infield at 81mph and showed good range and footwork on the infield. With improvement to his hands, Frers has a chance to play up the middle at the next level and be a threat at the plate.
In addition to the above, Nick was also one of the most intriguing arms at the event. Topping out at 86 with his fastball, living 82-85, Frers had the top fastball velocity on the day, impressive for a 2023 arm. Ball comes out of a ¾ slot from a simple delivery, arm unwinds nicely, and the ball jumps out of hand. Curveball was sharp and late moving, sitting around the 70mph mark, and the slider was even better at 73 mph with sharp and late side movement. Changeup fills up his quality four-pitch mix sitting around 74mph; all his off-speed was thrown intently and thrown for strikes. Nick is a talented arm and bat to keep tabs on becoming an outstanding two-way guy in the future.
