A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.

6-foot-4, 198-pound physical frame. Above average on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a loose arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses high effort. Shows downhill shoulders. Slider (79-80 mph).Produced a fastball that came in at 85-86 mph with a max of 87 mph; shows around the zone command and late action with heavy movement. Shows a 11/5 curveball with tight action. Had control low in the zone and swing and miss action on his changeup (79-80). The fastball seemed to take off late and the change up showed big time deception out of the hand.

Has filled out physically over the last few years and has continued to progress accordingly. He pounded the zone with three quality pitches and showed a nice, easy delivery on the mound. He showed a high spin rate fastball (high 2000’s- mid 2100’s) with nice sink at 83-85 mph and bumping 86 mph a few times. The breaking ball is firm and shows true slider action and cuts late. The change up shows big time deception as it is thrown with the exact same arm speed as the fastball and has late tumble. Really likeable RHP that has a definite high ceiling

We have seen Steed before but he has really progressed both physically and on the mound. Showed a solid 3 pitch arsenal with a FB in the low 80’s, topping at 84 mph with some definite ASR into RH hitters. No wasted action in the delivery as the mechanics were clean. Was able to spot the FB to both sides of the plate and mix in secondary stuff at any time. The breaking ball took nice shape in the upper 70’s with spin rates in the low 2000’s. The change up showed definite tumble into RH hitters and he did a very good job of creating down plane on the FB.

6-foot-3 190-pounds. Strong, physical frame that had an effortless delivery. Sat 83-84, and topped out at 85. FB was up since the last time we saw him throw. Very high ceiling for this big body arm with an easy motion. Showed good body awareness messing with timing in his delivery. Flipped the CB for strikes consistently. Competed in the zone, and had a repeatable delivery.

Solid player in every aspect of the game. Has really filled out since last fall and the skills continue to progress. Showed a slightly open stance at the plate and did a nice job getting the barrel to the contact point. Hands really work through the zone and the barrel stayed in the zone for an extended period with slight tilt creating some middle of the field pop. Nice work at 1B and showed nice a big arm across the dirt (81 mph). Fluid glove action and “feel” around the bag. On the mound, he showed a FB with late life up to 82 MPH from a short arm slot. Does a nice job hiding the ball from hitters. Showed feel for both secondary pitches and the change up showed nice tumble action at 71-72. Really commanded the bottom half of the zone.

Very projectable 2022 that had an impressive mound presence. His FB appeared to have “late life” and seemed to get on hitters a little quicker than expected. His FB was 78-79 and topped at 80 mph and his breaking ball had 11/5 action with tight spin. He also featured a changeup at 71 that can be an effective pitch for him. A definite 2022 arm to follow.
Very projectable young player that did a lot extremely well. Pop times on the day were 2.15-2.25 which will continue to drop as he gets stronger with the arm. Fundamentals are solid and his athleticism jumps out at you from behind the plate. Good footwork and solid blocking actions. Offensively, he has some pop in the bat from an event stance and a nice slow load of the hands. Did a very good job of staying inside the ball and showing a middle of the field approach in BP. Explosive lower half. A 2022 to watch.
