Ryan Rifenberg OF / RHP / Rochester Adams, MI / 2019

ROCHESTER - Junior college is the best fit for Ryan Rifenberg.

The talented senior at Rochester Adams has made a decision on where his next step is when it comes to baseball. The 47th-ranked 2019 in the state is now a Muskegon Community College commit.

A lot went into that decision for the 6-0 180-pound outfielder with an exit velo of 95.

“Because of grades I was put in that situation,” Rifenberg admitted about his three offers coming from Muskegon, Grand Rapids Community College and the University of Northwest Ohio, an NAIA school. “I really would have had to stand out for other schools to take a chance on me.

“But even if my grades were fine, junior college is the best route for me,” continued Rifenberg, who “feels good” about where his GPA is headed after this semester and scored a 1210 on the SAT. “I decided that over the summer. Junior colleges reaching out was something that just happened.”

There was a lot for junior college programs to like about Rifenberg.

“They saw raw talent in my swing,” Rifenberg noted. “They see they can work with that. A lot of schools saw me play over the summer, but I’m not sure what all caught their eyes.”

Rifenberg did his best to let colleges know about him.

“Schools that I really wanted to go to I sent emails,” Rifenberg explained. “That’s how I got talking with Lansing. I also went to some PBRs and that helped a lot meeting multiple coaches. That also helped give me a good idea where I stand with the rankings and the radar numbers.”

All the offers came to Rifenberg on visits to the school.
