NC Leaderboard: Top Catcher Pop Times

Branodn Hall
Executive Director, PBR of NC

PBR scouts are constantly out watching games, practices, and workouts.  PBR also works to hold workouts for players so that they are able to post verified and trusted stats so they can connect with college coaches and pro scouts.  The talent in North Carolina can compare to just about any other state in the Union and today we take a look at the top outfield arms in North Carolina High School Baseball today.

Each player on this leaderboard attended a PBR event, or a combine type workout with PBR scouts in attendance.  Catchers worked from a crouch, at their position, throwing through to 2B.  PBR scouts were able to take pop times on their stopwatches, as well as catcher velocities at certain events.  Inside are the top 25 catcher pop times, from workouts.

Top Pop Times

*Playes attending PBR events go through a defensive workout from their primary, and at times their secondary, positions.  From behind the plate, catcher pop times are recorded with stopwatches.  PBR scouts work to keep these times as consistent to a game environment as possible, but most scouts understand that workout Pop Times will be better than times posted in a live game.  During PBR events, catchers are asked to start at a preset distance behind the plate and batter's box.  MIF that are receiving throws are asked to straddle 2B.  Catchers are also asked to be set, not walk or hop into their catch, and to be square to the pitcher.

Below are the top 25 Pop Times recorded by players currently in high school.  Each player has a PBR profile with available stats, evaluations, and video.  Click on their name to see their entire profile.
