Top Uncommitted 1st basemen

Max Zajec 1B / RHP / Wellesley, MA / 2020

Report: 6-foot, 195-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Continues to impress, ran a 4.48 down the line on his dig to first base. The glove is solid at the bag, advanced for his age. The feet work well and he has a good feel for the position. Threw 83 mph across the diamond during the defensive portion of the workout. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 94 mph. The setup is wide in base, pick up and put down of the front foot. The foot stays elevated for timing purposes as he tries not get the front foot down too early. The path is clean, would like to see him keep his front side on the ball longer, comes off the ball and loses bat at times. On the mound, the fastball touched 84 mph, minimal arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is 65-67 mph, correct in shape. Needs additional fastball hand speed to the pitch. The delivery is online with his feet, above ¾ in slot. The lift is athletic, quick-in tempo. The tracking comes offline prior to foot strike. The arm works clean and freely. The glove side is soft. Good looking two-way prospect.

Top Uncommitted 2nd Basemen

Nick Carelli 2B / SS / Saint Johns, MA / 2020

Report: 5-foot-6, 145-pound right-handed hitting infielder. Impressive player, good athlete. Threw 81 mph during the infield portion of the workout. The glove and feet work properly throughout the fielding portion. The arm works clean and free. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 81 mph. The setup is even, picks up and puts down the front foot. The path is clean and flat to the ball, solid finish through the ball.  Shows gap to gap power. Ran a 6.96 sixty at the event. Solid division 1 prospect, and should develop nicely through his high school years.

Top Uncommitted Shortstops

Matthew Shaw SS / OF / Worcester Academy, MA / 2020

Report: 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. What a difference a year makes, Matt had an excellent showing this year. Hammered the ball in the games, and played solid defensively throughout the week. Ran a 6.7 sixty on the laser. The glove is solid and the feet work in the field. I see him as an offensive second baseman at a higher level in college, but he could certainly play SS/3B if you need him to. Threw 82 mph across the diamond with accuracy. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 95 mph. The setup is even in base, uses a knee to knee approach on the bottom half. The hands work through the ball and he accelerates the bat through the ball. The path is simple and flat to the ball. Excellent prospect who plays with energy and grit.

Top Uncommitted 3rd Basemen

Andrew Eppinger 3B / OF / Saint Johns, MA / 2020

Report: 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Played really well in the games, the swing was shorter in the games and he was on time. He plays hard and works at his game. Ran a 6.94 sixty on the laser at the event. Threw 87 mph from the outfield, as he is athletic enough to play all 3 spots but will probably end up on the corner as he is a physical body type. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 89 mph. The setup is wide in base, small pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches. The swing is up and over in path during batting practice, but in game he gets his hands in the path better. Usually the sign of a guy who hits in games and bp doesn’t show much. Good looking player and athlete.
