Oklahoma Class of 2023: Rankings Update

The PBR Oklahoma 2023 Class Rankings have been updated after a baseball packed summer. Through loaded events and talent rich tournaments at our new Creekside facility and Lakepoint where many OK teams traveled to compete, we were able to get our eyes on more prospects more times than ever before. Check out the top prospects, risers, newcomers, and fully expanded rankings, below. 

The Top- For the first time in over a year, we have a shakeup at the top of the rankings which now features one of the top switch hitters in the 2023 class from across the country, and elite defender, and an uber projectable right-handed arm. 

Jaxon Willits SS / Fort Cobb-Broxton, OK / 2023

Staying at the No. 1 sport in the OK rankings and moving to 77 in the National 2023 rankings is the physical switch hitting SS, Jaxon Willits. The Fort Cobb-Broxton product proved again why he is at the top of the rankings hitting over .500 in the class A Fall State Tournament. Willits also played an elite SS all tournament, making every average play with a few web gems as well. On the mound, Willits shows off his strong arm and athleticism, pounding the zone with a mid 80s fastball and mixing a curveball and changeup to keep hitters off balance.  

Jax Ryan SS / RHP / Verdigris , OK / 2023

The now 6-foot, 155-pound Ryan has always been an elite defender, but has seen a jump in every other part of his game thanks to added size, strength, and athleticism. Ryan rises to the No. 2 spot in the state and jumps into the top 100 in the PBR National 2023 Rankings. 

Diego Ramos RHP / SS / Vian, OK / 2023

The 6-foot-3, 160-pound right hander continues to rise in the state and overall rankings thanks to his fastball velo continuing to jump. Ramos had strong outtings all summer including this years Future Games, featuring a mid-upper 80s fastball and an elite changeup. 

Top Newcomers
- The summer of 2020 saw a flood of new talent make a name for themselves. These three below led the way with some impressive performances, jumping into the top 20 of an already very talented class.

Jack Williams RHP / OF / Bixby, OK / 2023

A lean and physically impressive 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame with advanced athleticism and room to add even more size and strength. A two-way prospect, Williams currently shines a bit brighter on the mound shere he features a mid 80s fastball that he consistently attacks the zone with. The right hander also mixes in a short slider at 72-73 and flashes a changeup at times. 

Braydon Sanford RHP / SS / Owasso, OK / 2023

A very lean and projectable 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame. Sanford shows one of the cleanest arm action in the class coming through an over the top slot producing a fastball up to 84 at the BBA Titans Scout Day. The right-hander filled up the zone with all three of his pitches including an advanced 12/6 curveball. Not only an athlete on the mound, Sanford shows feel for his body at SS and in the batters box as well. 

Chapman McKown OF / OF / Norman North, OK / 2023

One of the fastest players in the state, the 5-foot7, 155-pound McKown showed off his 6.55 laser timed 60 a the OK Summer Open, followed by a solid round of BP. The right-handed hitter got better every time we saw him this summer and his athleticism should allow him to keep moving forward as he polishes his game. 

The Risers
-As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our latest rankings.

Austin Lemon OF / SS / Heritage Hall, OK / 2023

Up 8 spots at the top of the state rankings and jumping into our national rankings is switch hitting center fielder Austin Lemon. Offensively, Lemon put together an extremely strong summer, helping to lead the Sandlot to a PBR National Championship. A 6.75 runner and 83 from the outfield, Lemon shows the tools to stick in center field and hit at the top of the order at the next level. 

Tallen Bagwell RHP / OF / Roff, OK / 2023

It is easy to project the 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-hander with broad shoulders and long limbs. Bagwell is up 19 spots in this rankings. The athletic two-way has added velo, now up to 86, with even more to come. Bagwell was outstanding for Roff on the mound this fall, earning the win in the Class B State Championship. Offensively, Bagwell uses his long levers at the plate to post a Trackman exit velo up to 86 in BP. 

Weston Rouse LHP / 1B / Fort Gibson , OK / 2023

The young left-hander has possessed an impressive 6-foot-5, 230-pound frame, and now that he has added strength and body control, he has seen a velo jump. Up 31 spots in this rankings, Rouse was especially impressive at the 15U National Championships.
