The spring season is quickly approaching with southern states already kicking off high school practices and their northern peers pushing to improve on skills with winter workouts. No matter where they’re from, college coaches are quickly and quietly gathering notes, intel, and names on players to see once they can get back on the road. Below, a collection of uncommitted 2023 pitchers with immense upside that college coaches will be eager to get out to see in the future.

Nathan Teague RHP / OF / Southern Alamance, NC / 2023

At 6-foot-6, 205-pounds, Teague oozes projection on the mound with a pristine frame that is sure to excite recruiting coordinators. Adding to his upside on the mound is a loose, whippy arm that is already pumping fastballs up to 87 mph. Athletic on the mound with a compact, uptempo delivery that allows his long limbs to work freely along with a consistent high ¾ being found on a fastball that exhibits considerable arm side life and sink. Teague’s quality extension helps the fastball to play up some, and the ball jumps out of the hand with much more velocity likely on the way. The secondary offerings are still developing including a slider (63-68) that may take a large step forward over coming months with more concerted work on the shape and spin. The same can be said for the changeup which has some tunneling action at times, and will likely continue to trend up with more use. Above all else, Teague’s athleticism, arm action, and polished delivery lend well to the idea that he can make quick adjustments in the future, and college coaches are likely going to circle his name as one to follow in the spring/summer.
