JUCO programs across the state of Maryland began preseason practices back in early January. As the calendar quickly turns and with several teams getting ready to open up their 2020 campaigns in the next few weeks, we begin our coverage of the Maryland JUCO Conference with a preseason preview of all fourteen schools. In each preview, we will take a look back at the 2019 season, examine key players that have moved on or left the program, look at some new faces and key players for the upcoming season, and finally take a sneak peak at whats ahead for the 2020 season. We continue our preseason previews with a look at the Prince George's CC Owls.

2021 Season Snapshot
Tenth year head coach Buddy Foster and Prince George's CC will look to continue their NJCAA Region XX DIII dominance again in 2021 with a solid group of players returning. The Owls got off to a 6-and-4 start in their first ten games prior to Covid-19 canceling the remainder of everyone's season. Making it back to the Mid-Atlantic District Best-of-Three Series for another shot at returning to the World Series for the first time since 2017 will be the goal.
Second baseman Aderlyn Cubilete headlines a strong core of returning starters from last season's lineup and will once again be looked upon to provide a spark after getting off to a hot start in 2020 hitting .364 through the ten game span. Alongside Cubilete and also expected to make a significant impact at the plate this year are Trey Newland, Payton Harmon, and Jake Willis. Cristian Desrosiers, Zach Hurley and Grayson Lewis round out the list returners and figure to play key roles in the lineup throughout the year as well. USC-Sumter CC transfer Wynston Dyer, and freshmen CJ Anderson, Tyler Kemp, and Ivan Suarez all will add depth to what year in and year out tends to be a very prolific high scoring offense.
On the mound, coach Foster will look to several newcomers to provide depth behind right-handed returners Logan Marx and Ryan Mahanand as the Owls lose their top two arms inning wise from 2020 in Aaron Cooper and Zach Mendiguren. Look for Lakeland CC transfer Josh Scalish, Kemp and Suarez to fill some of those roles this season behind the aforementioned Marx and Mahanand.
Currently Prince George's is slated to open the 2021 campaign at home against Anne Arundel on March 9th. The schedule after that is mostly incomplete at this time but when it's all said and done, expect coach Foster and the Owls to be a favorite to win their fourth consecutive NJCAA Region XX DIII title.
